The Hardware Palette
Cabinet hardware divides into two categories: functional hardware, which includes hinges and drawer slides and determines how the cabinet operates, and decorative hardware, which includes pulls and knobs and determines how the cabinet looks. We specify Blum for all functional hardware as a standard inclusion on every project. Decorative hardware is selected with the client at the consultation from a curated range of profiles and finishes.
Decorative Hardware
Pull profiles for every door style and kitchen aesthetic. Physical samples available for all profiles listed below.
The most-installed pull profile in the Chicago suburban market. Available in lengths from 3 to 18 inches.
A curved bin-style pull most common on drawer fronts in farmhouse and cottage kitchens. Adds warmth and informality.
A traditional rectangular bail pull with a formal character. Common in traditional kitchens with raised panel doors.
An integrated channel pull that sits flush with the door face. Standard for contemporary and European minimalist kitchens.
A circular ring on a backplate. Decorative character suits formal traditional and French Country kitchens.
Recessed into the door face for a completely hardware-free profile. Used in conjunction with push-to-open mechanisms.
Decorative Hardware
Knobs are most common on door fronts in traditional and transitional kitchens. They are rarely used on drawer fronts because the single-point contact is less ergonomic for drawer operation than a pull.
The classic hardware choice for traditional kitchens. Small footprint; used on door fronts rather than drawer fronts.
A geometric knob profile that bridges traditional and contemporary. More current-feeling than the round knob.
Handmade ceramic knobs add warmth and personality. Common in farmhouse and cottage kitchens as a door-front accent.
