Cabinet Accessories and Organization
Corner solutions, waste management, wine storage, and custom inserts that solve the specific problems of every kitchen.
Overview
Specialty storage accessories exist because standard cabinet configurations do not solve every kitchen storage challenge. The corner cabinet is the classic example: a dead zone in most kitchens that becomes genuinely useful with the right hardware. The under-sink cabinet is another: a difficult space full of plumbing that requires a specific pull-out configuration to be functional.
Dan Craig Cabinetry designs specialty storage solutions at the same time as the cabinet layout, not after the fact. The corner solution is specified before the corner cabinet is built. The waste management system is integrated into the base cabinet before the doors are hung. The wine storage is designed into the pantry column before the shelves are cut. The result is a storage system that works because it was planned, not retrofitted.
A two-stage pull-out system that recovers the dead corner space in a blind corner cabinet. The first stage pulls straight out; the second stage swings sideways to reveal the full corner storage. Full access to corner storage without getting on the floor.
Best for: Blind corner base cabinets, L-shaped and U-shaped kitchen layouts
Spec note: Available for 36 and 39-inch blind corner configurations. Blum slides standard.
A rotating tray system for corner cabinets that brings stored items to the front of the cabinet with a simple rotation. Available in full-circle and kidney-shaped configurations depending on the cabinet door design.
Best for: Corner base cabinets with bi-fold or standard doors
Spec note: Full-circle for pie-cut corner cabinets. Kidney for standard 90-degree corner cabinets.
A pull-out bin system with two or three container slots for waste, recycling, and compost, mounted in a dedicated base cabinet with a door that opens automatically as the pull-out extends. No separate lid to open. Keeps bins out of sight and accessible.
Best for: Base cabinet adjacent to the sink or prep area
Spec note: Available in 15 and 18-inch widths. Containers included. Door-open mechanism standard.
Horizontal bottle storage integrated into a pantry column, island, or dedicated wine cabinet. Available as fixed wooden slots or adjustable metal racking depending on the collection size and the aesthetic.
Best for: Pantry columns, kitchen islands, butler pantry applications
Spec note: Solid hardwood slots for design-build kitchens. Metal racking for larger collections. Temperature control not included.
Vertical wooden dividers inside a tall cabinet section or a deep base cabinet that store baking sheets, cutting boards, trays, and platters vertically rather than stacked. Eliminates the need to unstack everything to reach the item at the bottom.
Best for: Adjacent to the oven, island base cabinets, pantry lower section
Spec note: Solid hardwood dividers. Custom-spaced to the item sizes specified at design.
A dedicated drawer or cabinet section with a recessed power strip, cable management routing, and a soft-lined interior for charging phones, tablets, and small devices out of sight but accessible. Common in kitchen islands and butler pantries.
Best for: Kitchen islands, butler pantry cabinets, home office adjacent kitchens
Spec note: Requires dedicated electrical outlet. Outlet coordination is part of the project scope.
All specialty storage accessories that require sliding, rotating, or extending movement are specified on Blum hardware as standard. This includes the blind corner pull-out, the waste bin slides, and any pull-out tray system. Blum corner carousel hardware is used for full-circle and kidney lazy Susan applications where the load and use frequency warrant premium hardware.
It depends on the corner cabinet configuration. For a blind corner cabinet, the two-stage blind corner pull-out is the most functional solution because it gives full access to the corner without any dead zone. For a pie-cut corner cabinet with a diagonal door, a full-circle lazy Susan is the most common and practical solution. For a corner cabinet with standard 90-degree doors, a kidney-shaped lazy Susan works within the door swing. We specify the corner solution at the design stage based on the specific cabinet geometry.
Sometimes. A standard 15 or 18-inch base cabinet can be retrofitted with a pull-out waste bin system if the interior dimensions allow. The door must be modified or replaced to accommodate the door-open mechanism. For a refacing project, we integrate the waste bin system as part of the cabinet scope so the door and the bin pull-out are coordinated from the start.
A standard 24-inch wide pantry column with wine storage integrated from base to mid-height can accommodate 24 to 36 bottles in horizontal slots, depending on the slot spacing. A dedicated wine cabinet in an island can accommodate 12 to 18 bottles. For larger collections requiring temperature-controlled storage, we discuss the integration of a dedicated undercounter wine refrigerator into the cabinetry scope.
Interior accessories are designed into the cabinet at the drawing stage. Schedule a consultation and we will plan the full interior alongside the cabinet layout.
